This stamp was issued to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the inauguration of the railroad-line Matadi-Leopoldville, 1898-1948; it depicts the first train (no wheels!) on this route. Starting in 1890 it took 8 years to built this railroad-line between Matadi-Leopoldville.
