These stamps were issued to publicize PHILEXAFRIQUE, philatelic exhibition held in Essen-Germany (1-5 November 1978) and in Libreville-Gabon (June 1979). The stamps are issued as triptychs: twice a stamp of 30F, in the middle a vignette.

Stamp with a greater Kudu (Tragelaphus strepsiceros) on the right and an image no 233; in the middle the Essener (blue) or the Libreville (red) vignette, the other stamps depict a woodpecker and a German stamp “Oldenbourg” from 1858.

Remark: the white border around these stamps is much larger when cut from a side, top, bottom or corner of a sheet.

 

The Luxury sheet (always without gum). Size 168.5 x 117 mm:

There are two kinds of paper used. The normal, that is shiny. And a thicker paper that is mat. Size and colors are exactly the same.

 

There are no variations or curiosities known for none of the above shown material.
